My climate control is not working correctly.

The temperature selection is not working to maintain the cabin temperature.

The blend door is working. The selection for the dash, windshield and floor is also working.

The condition is that I have to select “MAX” temperature, in order to get heat. Then the heat will warm the cabin. The temperature control will not change the temperature and then the cabin gets too hot.

The outside temperature sensor is correct however I believe that the cabin temperature sensor might not be correct???

Any suggestions regarding troubleshooting and resetting the temperature for the cabin?

Thank You; Brian

I believe you should have what is shown in the picture in your dash. That is the cabin temperature and humidity sensor. There is a small circuit board behind the grille along with a small fan. I don't know if that could be part of your problem. However I don't believe that it should have any affect on the temperature selection issue. Do you have an 'Auto' selection for the HVAC system?

Thank You Very Much for your reply.

Yes, my dashboard is exactly what you sent in your photograph.

Yes I do have a “auto” selection on the climate control.

I just can not seem to be able to adjust the temperature. The temperature changes in the display however the cabin temperature does not respond. If I need heat, I have to adjust the temperature to “max”, then it gets too warm. In order for the temperature to cool down, I need to adjust the temperature to “min”, then the temperature goes too cool.

Is it possible that the cabin temperature sensor has failed?

If so…how do I open the panel to access the sensor?

Thank You; Brian

I don't know for sure and I'd hate to steer you down the wrong path. I looked it up on the Internet and found this;
BTW, is your outside ambient temperature reading okay?

Thank You Very Much for your reply, and yes the outside temperature reading is quite accurate.

@Brianfrench
Were you able to resolve the AUTO temperature control issue? I have the EXACT same issue.

Good Morning. I have this exact issue as well. Only works on HI and on LO. No other temp adjustment causes any change, so it is either full hot or full cold. I did just change the actuator to fix the issue with the HVAC stuck to vent only. After the repair, now it will go from defrost to face vent to floor. I wonder if I forgot to plug in the cabin temp sensor when I put the last panel back on? I sure hope so! I remember plugging it in though. Makes sense since the blend door is moving. I hear it and the temp changes, but only at the extreme settings which probably go open loop and don't use the cabin temp sensor for feedback. @Brianfrench and @Markfave were you able to fix your issue? Thanks!!
