Does anyone know if the 2017 XLT has the ability to lockout or disable to the OD manually? We recently took a trip towing a 3400lbd campe and found that the transmission did alot of gear searching on fairly flat ground.

Do you have a tow/haul mode? That will disable OD. It also adjusts shift points and (in some cases) engine operation to keep the engine in it's power band and to protect the transmission from over heating. You also should have a select shift automatic. You can set the max gear to 4th (usually direct drive 1:1) and the transmission will not shift past it.

Thanks! I do have the tow haul mode and was using that. How can I set the max gear? I did not see this in the owners manual

Unfortunately I am not too familiar with 5th gen transmission setups. I do know it is possible, it may be where you shift into "S" or "M" and there is a "+/-" buttons on the shifter or you slide the shifter from side to side to select gears.
