The 2016 LED Headlights are a huge improvement over our 2011 halogen headlights. My 16 sport did not come with the LED fog lamps, but the $30 Amazon LED bulbs work great too.

AGREED! I feel blind as a bat in our 2012.... I occasionally drive my daughters 14yr old Pontiac Vibe and I say... "Oh these are what headlights do!"

How can our forum members be receiving physical cars already and still we have no official release or resource from FORD on the 2017 changes other than SYNCH 3? maybe that's it.

I just got my VIN finally and a build date of 7/26. The waiting game begins...

The only thing i will order for my platinum is the explorer words for the hood to match the Sport. I love that!!

I just ordered my 2017 Sport Magnetic 401a rear bumper protector, roof rack crossbars. D-Plan
I'll keep you posted on the milestones of the order.

I love my 2014 Limited and Im gonna miss her, she treated me great.

I wasnt really looking for a new vehicle but I saw a 2017 magnetic and tinkered with it a bit.
It was beautiful
great color - darker than my sterling gray
I like the new front end
Ford polished a lot of little details like the compass and the availability of monitoring individual tire pressures etc.
SYNC3 is really functional, quick, pinch to zoom and swipe to scroll is nice.
Im looking forward to android auto and Ford Pass
The new Sony stereo is a large improvement on a stereo that didnt need improvement IMO.
The complimentary 5yr subscription to Sirius and Travel link is awesome.
a few other features that I didnt have in my 14 are heated steering wheel, cooled seats, power liftgate and powerfold seats.
and of course the 3.5L Ecoboost is what I'm looking forward to the most.

The only downside is starting my payments over and the disappointment of the $25k trade in value for a like new condition 2014 Limited 301a Tow package with only 21k miles.

Yes on both counts. Sync 3 is better in nearly every way over the system it replaces.

You also get Android Auto and CarPlay, but honestly, I disable CarPlay.

Well the way it was explained to me was the vin# comes the day the order is submitted by ford corporate to the plant where the vehicle is made........ It takes a few days after that to be able to get a window sticker from the Internet. (COUTS or Research Mainiacs). I haven't been able to get a copy of the Window Sticker yet since I just got the vin Friday and the office people do not work on the weekends..... Then the factory has to schedule your build at the plant, which could take days or weeks depending on vehicle production demand at the plant. My next hurdle to face is when the vehicle is "Bucked" on the plant floor..... At that point it's just days away from being built...... Then it goes to transport where it could ship right out, or set for days or weeks in train yards and trucking company's. If someone knows any thing else jump right in here and have a drink while we get drunk waiting......

The 'Window Sticker' is usually posted 3-5 days before the 'Build Date'. I wouldn't put too much faith in the 'Mainiacs' site. I just tried to look up two VINs and the site said to check back later as they have not been posted yet. One of the numbers I checked was for my previous 2011 Explorer and the other was for my current MKT which I've had for over 2 years. This is the same response I received from that site a year ago.
I am not familiar with COUTS so I wasn't able to try that. Many of these sites stopped working for many owners a year or so ago when Ford made some changes. We have a post in the 'Sticky' area with 2 threads that used to work but no longer.

I didnt know CarPlay and Android Auto were available for SYNC3 yet, when did they release it?

I had heard late 2016 release.

They were advertised as part of the MY 17 run. All Sync 3 2017 Explorers will have the features.

The 2016 MY Sync 3 retrofit (for non-Explorers that got Sync 3, like Focus, etc.) to Android Auto and CarPlay have not been released yet, however.

Apple Car Play is awesome.
I just upgraded my DD truck with it.
It makes calling so much easier, as well as recieving messages. Probably the best safety feature on the car.

Can anyone shed some light into custom ordering pricing?

If I spec out a platinum with tricoat and 2nd row buckets it is like a 55.4 MSRP from the ford website.

If this exact same SUV was at my local dealer (on the lot) i would get like a 3-3.5K "dealership discount" but they elude that this is only for their inventory and not for custom orders.

Is that true or can I expect/insist on similar discount on custom order?
