2020 Explorer Limited Hybrid Production

I have been "chasing" these Explorer Hybrids for the last 6 months now, and have called every dealer that shows these 2020 Explorer Hybrids on their on line inventory. When I get the Fleet Mgr or Sales Mgr on the line, they verbally confirm the car being there, but when I ask for images or for them to 'touch' the actual car, they have come back with - 'car is not there yet'.

Can any one tell me which dealers have them that have been confirmed by any one that the vehicle is actually there?

per the Ford Vehicle Ordering Tracking site, there is an AWD Hybrid Limited slated to arrive in Michigan in 6 days....
I very sincerely doubt that you will find an Explorer Hybrid sitting on a dealer's lot anytime soon. As for them showing "in stock" at various dealers, I have an Aviator Hybrid coming and while it has been built last week, it's been showing as "in stock" at my dealer since it was assigned a serial number in mid November.

Even though various dealers in my area were advertising "test drives" as early as August, I do not know if any/when any of them got any for some time after that and certainly no Hybrids which is why I ordered mine in August. It "may" be here by the end of the month.

But the question is; is it dealer stock or a sold order?

Just got information from my dealers weekly report, but he was not available to answer a question. The report shows my vehicle with a Lock In Date as next Monday, December 12th.
Can someone familiar with the terms on that report tell me what Lock In Date means. I wondered if it might be the same as the Blend Date. :confused2:

FINALLY -- The Lock In Date for me was the date my Window Sticker became available. The current Blend Date and Build Date are both 12/22/2019 for this Special Order, 2020 Ford Explorer Limited Hybrid with 4WD.

I hope you don't have to wait as long as others have. My Explorer's blend date was 10/25/19 and it went In Production on 11/4 but didn't start transit until 12/7. Delivery is estimated as 12/24.

Yeah it's a crap shoot. My Aviator had a blend/build date of 12/01 after originally being scheduled for 11/11. It was built on 12/04 with an eta end date of 12/29 but there's been no shipping or transit information since the build posted on 12/05.

I was talking with my dealer on Friday about getting some splash guards and Weather Tech mats, I asked if they could check and see if they had any more current information. Didn't hear back, maybe tomorrow.

I did include both splash guards and crossbars in my order as I have done on my last 4 explorers. I added the Ford Cargo Area Protector since Weather Tech told me several months ago that they were only in the pre-production planning for the 2020 Limited Hybrid Explorers but had no projected availability date. My fingers are crossed waiting to see if the build date will be 12/22 and when I might ever get delivery.

That is still the case; there is one available for the regular Explorer but not the Hybrid. They only show the shorter "behind third row" AVM universal model for the Hybrid and that is the only thing they show for any Aviator.

Sometime around late September Ford added a number of Accessories to the Build & Price App. When building a Explorer Limited Hybrid with AWD the protector @ $140 was added for behind second row. Here is a test order for that vehicle I just did and a picture for that accessory.

This was for dealer stock........This should be good news to the community!

Truly a cool SUV!

That was a Build Your Own test order. My actual order was a customer order on 8/13 and was for the same as that test order except for color. Here's hoping the window sticker data is correct and that mine will be built this coming Sunday.

He was talking about my post #69, not yours.

My 2020 hybrid status has just changed to In Production. So it looks like the build this Sunday, 12/12, may be the date for my 12th Ford Product over the past 51 years.:chug:

Sometime around late September Ford added a number of Accessories to the Build & Price App. When building a Explorer Limited Hybrid with AWD the protector @ $140 was added for behind second row. Here is a test order for that vehicle I just did and a picture for that accessory.

Took me two days to get a visit with Weather Tech. I asked him specifically about the Explorer Hybrid and the Aviator only having the "behind third row" mats. He said that there were some minor changes in the floor pan for the Hybrids so they'd not gotten them done but were working on that project.

He told me that they should be out soon and I answered him that I knew someone who'd heard that story from Weather Tech in August and if true then, where were they? He said they should be out in 5 to 6 weeks, and I asked him if that wasn't the normal lead time for orders to which he replied "Yes". So I asked if I could backorder one and he said no pre-orders are accepted. When I told him my dealer had already ordered all the other mats for my Aviator, he asked for my email and said he'd let me know when they were available. I also passedd that information along to the accessories guy, who seems pretty sharp, at my dealer.

I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens. Not too worried about it right now as mine was built on 2019/12/04 and shows an eta end date of 2019/12/29 but it's not been shipped yet.

Well. my 7/21 ordered Hybrid AWD w towing package is supposed to be delivered 12/24, 17 day predicted transit time to Southern California.

It went "In Production" on 11/4 according to shop.ford.com tracking, I will report the actual build date when I pick the it up.

Today 12/26 it is "In California" per my dealer. They are trying to expedite getting it to them before the end of the year...

Here's hoping.

12/30 and I finally have it! Sticker says built 10/19 and the small print looks like 10/24 for the actual date. They received a 2nd hybrid with a different option package.

Best news was $3k in discounts and zero interest for 36 months with a down payment I could handle.
