2021 Ford Explorer base m
I have a 2021 Explorer base model with a driver's seat with only two switches on the side. In my previous Explorer, an XLT, there was a third switch at the forward end of the seat that I could use to tilt the nose of the seat down. However, with my 2021 base model, I'm not able to flatten the seat so it doesn't catch me on the back of the legs. I'm having some sciatic nerve issues and I'd like to decrease the pressure from the seat on the backs of my legs.

My question: Is there a manual adjustment underneath the seat where I can lower the front edge of the seat to make it flatter?

If the seat doesn't have tilt feature, I don't see how you would address the issue. I've never checked out the mounting points of the seat but I doubt that you could even shim it enough to get the angle you want. Perhaps you could get it reupholstered to your needs? :dunno:
Would using a cushion at the rear of the seat help to level it out for you or would the front edge still be a problem?

I have the same issue with one I just bought. Did you find anything that helps??

@ThreeFords Have you considered upgrading to a seat from a higher-end model? I don't know about the compatibility between the different models in that generation, but it seems that given your nerve situation, it might be worth the expenditure IF it is possible.

I wouldn't advise using a cushion that sits on top of the seat, for safety reasons; but if it doesn't bother you, don't let me change your mind.

I thought about that too. I'm going to look into compatability. I have to say, I'm disappointed in Ford for this model. I would gladly take my 2016 back.

Honestly, you can't blame Ford, not like something is broke and doesn't work. And they do have seats that do what you want, you just didn't choose to buy them (or a model that includes them).
But yeah, I would do a junkyard search (car-part.com is a great place to start) and swap in a seat I liked better.

Are you sure that seat does not tilt? Have you tried to tilt the base by manipulating those switches? The older seats use those same style of electric controls and they indeed tilt by pressing up or down on the seat base electric controls

The specs for your truck what does it say about power drivers seat is it 4 way 8 way or sixteen way adjustable? It should say something like this in the literature and there are instructions in the owners manual

Try pressing up and down on this side of button

The Base model has an 8-way power driver's seat so it must have the tilt feature. Perhaps it just doesn't tilt enough for your situation.

That is the issue, yes.

You can always have the seat base modified to suit your needs (chop cut weld)
Or upgrade to a better seat?
The pedals and steering wheel also adjust on my moms 2019 limited, makes it easier to find the perfect position. Does your model do that?

Unfortunately, my pedals don't move. I'm looking the cut and weld though!

No, it does not

The steering wheel adjusts, bot the petals though.
Thanks for the idea!
