Looking at a 23-explorer limited (25,000 miles) to replace my 2017 escape (167,000 miles).

Good / Bad on 23 explorers???

Good. Just make sure a vehicle hasn’t had too many problems in the past, otherwise normal things to look out for.

I just bought a '23 Limited a few months ago with 39K on it. Very nice so far. I just got back from a trip from Houston to Omaha and the Explorer did great. Very comfortable, great ride, and the AC was exceptional, as it was pretty hot while we were up there. You should be just fine with your choice.
