I would wait a few months for the 26s to come out! They shouldn't be more than $1500 a piece for the basic ones. Then when you get those, you can just paint a rubber coating on the edges so that they can fit under your truck. I mean, who needs tires. The ride would be great!

WHY SHOULD ANYBODY WASTE THEIR TIME RESPONDING TO YOU. I HAVE JUST MADE MYSELF STUPIDER BY WASTING MY TIME TO DIGNIFY YOUR RESPONSE WITH AN ANSWER.

still, he has a point. it really wouldn't be that much trimming to stuff 26s with like 25 series tires under an x... i bet a torsion twist (lift) and a rear shackle would do it and you'd look like... well... a fool

fabolous also says "18 inches and up, no sittin on minors" I rock 18's and love em. Sometimes i wish they were bigger, but im really happy with em. Most of my friends call them dubs and think they are 20's, despite me telling them they are really only 18s. Hey if they wanna call em dubs thats cool. I like the look though

Get 2O"s!

those actually look kind of small for 20s...

get 20s, 18 will look dumb on a 2001.

I like the rims, but tell me the truth. If you could have got 22's for the same price you know you would have been all over em'.

Actually a company did make a set of 26" rims. They were just a test though, and had no plans to actually make them. He wasn't kidding about the thin veneer of rubber. Pretty sillly.

Go with 17 or 18 inch wheels. Good balance of looks and ride.

Im with Black Magic

Get 20's!

More evidence that they look good.. i wouldnt go for anything bigger tho. these allow a 45 profile tire while still filling the wheel well out nicely!

AnabolicFrolic Exactly! The 45 series with the 20"s are perfect! They look like they fit while 17" and even most 18" just look a little, well little. I don't think I would get 22" on an Explorer. I've seen them and yea, there aren't many arround so that would be good. But they are just too big for the ride.

Goldie Locks once said:
Pappa bear's 22" are too big!
Mamma bear's 18"s are too Small!
But Pimp bear's 20"s are juuussst Right!

Anaboilic: Very nice Ex!
That looks alot like a 98 or 99
Did you paint the plastc part so it doesnt look
plastic or is that stock?

SilverBlade:
Its a 2001 XLT. Everything came painted from the factory. the only black plastic stuff it had on it were the Mirrors and the back tailgate latch.

I picked er' up when they were clearning out the 2001, to make room for the 02's
I got a good deal on it.. but i didnt get to choose my own options or anything.. but its loaded.. and beleive it or not- ive yet to see another explorer the same color w/ the same trim package as mine YET! Heck i dont think ive seen another color X w. the same trim package (different color flares painted with the tubular running rails) the only thing close are the EB's but they have tan with molded running rails..
I dont know.. i like the uniqueness for sure!

Phat01Explorer-
Hey man if u think they look small on yer ride.. and want bigger-.. go for it!. Its all about the image you want for YOUR car-. U wanna Bling with 22's- go for it. I think it will look good.
I, myself like the look of the 20's on my Explorer.. but i think 22's can also look good.. but what does it matter what i think either way.. its your ride, your money and your idea of what will really look good.

Just decide whether the image is worth the loss in ride comfort.. cuz the tires u will be running will be very low profile.. so it will be rough as hell.. its not worth the sacrifice for me, especially since im pleased with what ive got now.

nice guages, how much and where did u get em?

If you have the money 20"s are the only way to go. If you still want to 4X4 I say get 18"s. I had 18"s on my Mitsubishi Eclipse, and I couldnt imagine how little they would look on my 2001 Explorer Sport. If I could really have my way I'd have 21"s with a 40 profile. But with the 20X10's I have on my Ex Sport the 4 inch deep lips more than make up for it.

perf diff that great?

looking for rims for my new 01 sport, and while i absolutely think that 20's would look the best, I am concerned about performance loss. I have had a great time smoking all the local rice off the line in the two short weeks Ive had it (seriously, every frickin light im pounding it, im going to have to stop, I got about 180 miles on my last tank). Does anyone have the numbers on such a comparison, or just ballpark figures? I would really like to keep it as quick as it is. I will shortly be installing a magnaflow and better breathing, will this make up for the difference of the 20's?
