Coming from my rally experience, skinny tires do better in the snow and I see a lot of snow. I have to drive over a 1000 foot pass every day for a commute.

I know, big tires are all the rage but I see a lot of people running 235/85 16 on their Rangers around here and I like the look.

I put some Rs5000 shocks on today and thought it was time to get some new rubber soon. I can get these tires all day long here where the 255/70 and 265-70 options are thin.

With a 2wd and limited slip, I think these 235/85 tires would look great with the rears spaced out to match the front. Rubbing with a shackle and TT lift?

IIRC that equals out to be a 33x10.50x16. With a 2-3" TT up front (2wd is ok to go 3"), shackles out back with 1.5" spacers to match track width you should be fine. You might have to do alittle trimming on the bottom corners of the front bumper cover and on the inside edges of the front cladding for clearance over bumps while turning. You're right about skinnier tires cutting thru the snow better. Don't forget the tire chains going up over those passes. I miss driving out in Oregon, up Cabage Hill, over and across Deadmans Pass, ya never knew if you were gonna make it or get stuck up there when they close the pass down. All my family is over in Bellingham, Washington, not far from the Canadian border, I hope I could move back out there some day.

That looks like a good plan to me. I don't think you'd have any trimming to do. The 235 is a 32" tire; 255/85 would be the 33. I looked into the skinny 33 earlier but have gone a different way. You'll probably not even rub on the sway bar with that width.
