28 or 31 spline spool

im buying a mini spool for my 98 xlt sohc, theres a 28 and 31 spline does it matter which one i get

you can get 4.10, not 4.11. Easiest and cheapest way is from a junkyard they came stock in some explorers, mostly eddie bauer's and sports. No v8's got them.

ok thx i just saw 4:11's on some website no 4:10's but if i can get em from a junkyard thats way better, any particular year sport or eddie bauer to get it from, how do i know if an explorer has one before i go pulling it apart at the junkyard

if it has a 4.10 front, it will have a 4.10 rear. Your looking for axle code 42, or D2. It will be on the sticker on the drivers door.

ok really appreciate the help, does it matter if i the axles are LS and i have open diffs, like i said i plan on putting a mini spool in the rear
