i have a 2003 ranger that i want to find a performance upgrade chip for which would be the best one for me? i have looked at the jet performance chip and that says that it adds 15 hp and like 17ft/lb of torque is that true and if so does that even make a difference???
I would think twice about the JET chip. Do some research on it any you'll see why. You would get much more for your money by going with a custom programmed setup like you would get from bamachips. http://www.bamachips.com/
Just remember that chip makers commonly overstate real-world gains. Are they lying? No, because the theoretical maximum gain is probably very close to 15/17. I've seen worse claims, 15/17 isn't unreasonable as claims go, really.
Would you notice 15/17? Heck yes, unless you're already running 400 horse to begin with. Would you get 15/17 with a generic JET? In my experience, "no way man".
I would add that with my truck I notice quite a difference with the chip turned on vs. the chip turned off. (I have a switch to do that). I run a custom programmed Apten chip, which I believe is a customized Diablo...if memory serves....
