3"Suspension, 3"body ,and 285/75s :D

I would guess that because a 17" rim is an inch bigger than a 16", the entire diameter would be an inch bigger. So if I'm right:
265/75/16= 32 and 285/75/16= 33 SO...265/75/17= 33 and 285/75/17=34.
Somebody who knows for sure, please correct me if I'm wrong. (I'm still learnin' too!)

A 265/75/16 is 31.6" tall. A 265/70/17 is also 31.6" tall.

Quick question... With a 3" Lift with RB spacers, what are the biggest size wheels people are running? I Want to get a bod lift and some RB spacers, but i can't get a bod lift cuz I'm not sure i could do it or not and i dont have $1k for a shop to do it. So i just want to run some big tires but not sure what size to go for...Ive heard lotsa different things about tire sizes on a 3" lift

Well, you should be able to run 265/75/16 & 265/70/17s easily (Yes, I have a set of each). I am running that size with only 2" total lift, but I also use 0 offset rims (actually, stock rims which are 38mm positive offset, together with 38mm or 1.5" hub adapters/wheel spacers, so the effect is 0 offset). You couldn't run 285/75/16 with just 2" lift, but you MAY be able to with 3" - though I'd think you would need to trim some of the plastic inner wheel well back to avoid rubbing.

NO LIFT, stock wheels and I'm running 265/75R16. Have not had to make any modifications for clearance or rubbing. I don't know what Ford did differently between these rigs, but what you can clear all depends on what your rig is like and what you do to it.

I was wondering what you differential gearing is.
I can't imagine that you are running those tires on 3.55, so you have 3.75?

How are those tires on 3.75s? Isn't that a bit too much for 3.75? Are you planing on regearing soon?

She's a stock drivetrain,
02 xls,
Runs well, I'm sure I'm down on power a bit compared to what it was with the stock 235's, but I've had no complaints.
I have no short term plans on swapping gears, my next plan is some lockers. If I ever get the time or money to do it.

I've got 98k miles.
Tranny still shifts well, and hasn't given me any issues.
She still gets up and goes very well off of the line.
The only complaint I have about the truck is the damn jack shaft chain rattle... which is documented by ford.
I just don't have time to get the thing fixed at the moment.
I checked with my gps, at 100km/h on my speedo, the truck is going 112km/h on the garmin.

Sorry, I've never actually bothered to check.
My gas Millage is horible I honsetly wouldn't have even bothered with the tires if It really mattered to me though.
Unfortunately with the amount of snow we've got here right now, and the amount of playtime I've had on the way to work, this time of year is no good to try to guage it either.

Hey, I'm new to the forum and have been reading a lot of the posts. I have a 02 XLS and was curious if this could be done for my truck as well? (as by the question you can tell I am in NO WAY mechanically inclined, but I am going to start) I have contacted a couple places by me that are well known for lifting trucks, jeeps etc and they say it cant be done. Any thought would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

yes the roadbully spacers will work for your explore. i say pick up the roadbully spacers have them install or install them yourself then go show those lift shops.

and you guys have the v6!!! i can't wait to see what my truck will get for fuel milage. i was getting like 11.5 mpg before with a mixture of city and some highway

i'm guessing ben has 3.55 gears because he has the class 2 hitch
