Whats wrong with this config? Tire guy says don't do it. What is your opinion? He says I need at least a 15x10. I see a lot of people using 15x8's with 33-12.50s. Do 15x8's ruin tires quicker or what. Fast response please.

Thank you

Andy

Well its not a fast response but I'll reply anyways.

With a 33x12.50 I'd go with a 8" rim. They hold a better bead at lower PSI then 10" rims. Just tell your tire guy to shut up and do his job.

Thanks, looks like I'm gonna have to mount them myself though.

Man What kinda Tire place is it you go to? I run 33x12.50 on a 15x8 rim and have no problems with them. The place I went to recomended I go with the 8 inch rim instead of the 10 inch rim. I would go to another place.

What about 33" x 12.5" on Stock Rims?

33" x 12.5" on Stock Tear Drop Rims 15"x 7"?

Any Ideas if this would be ok? I will be running in the Sand so I Air Down to about 17psi - 20 psi. Info would be great.

Both of the web sites of Goodyear and BFG say with a 35/12.50 you need a rim size 8.5 to 11 I do no think a 1/2 inch is that big of a deal, check out your rims a lot of them say that they are 8inch and they are 8.5

I ran those sizes for several years with BFG MT's. I got close to 50,000 miles and no problems on or offroad.

Running in sand with those sizes, I would try much lower pressure, maybe 10 psi.

Thanks for the information. I was kind of worried.

I was also wondering why the tires on wider rims pop more beads than narrower rims. I thought that it would be reverse. Narrower popping more.

Once I get my Body Lift I'll be going to 33 x 12.5 tires. Either BFG or Goodyears they are the only ones I've seen here in those sizes.

I'm just waiting for word from Ray Sanchez as to, if he can send me them or If I buy both lifts! The 883 & the 853 !

Another advantage of using an 8" wide wheel as apposed to a 10" wide wheel is because the chance of damaging your wheel or catching the valve stem on an object is less likely since the side wall bulges out more.

Alto

the reason the bead is more likely pop off of a 10" wide wheel instead of an 8" wide wheel is the bead is stretched out more.
Yhe easiest way I can think of to explain it is this:
If you blow up a balloon to it's maxamum capacity it is easier to pop it with a pin. If you only inflate the balloon about a 1/4 of the way the side is more pliable and takes more efort to to puncture. The same thing happens when whe you stretch out the side wall more.

Thanks for the info I now understand. Seeing as I'll be running Stock 15x7 rims with the 33x12.5 tires I wanted to be sure.
