I just got a 93 explorer eddie bauer for $500. Ive already pulled the doors off, removed the carpet, replaced the hubs with warn manual units, and done a tune up. Its ready to go. I have some 35x12.50 mud kings in my garage I want to fit on there. Im obviously not afraid to cut on this thing. I really dont care how it looks. Im going for function here. If i were to cut the snot out of the fenders, could i fit 35's with only 4" of lift???

if ur not afraid to gut and cut then yes

no question that with a 4" lift and a sawzall you can get 35"s...
Don't forget the pictures when your done :)

good! thats what I was hoping to hear. Im new to explorers...Ive built many cherokees before though. It looks like the front fenders will provide lots of "trim-able" room.....the rear fenders look like 2 pieces with an inner and outer fender. Am I correct here? what is the norm for getting more room out of the rear fenders?

ok well i just finished the rear SOA. I removed the overload spring and still netted about 5.5" of lift over stock. Im now planning on installing 2.5" coil spacers and doing the "Sloped body lift". I dont have the coin right now for a "real" front suspension lift. This rig is a beater and will ride on the trailer to and from the trails. This is a bidget oriented build hoping to stay under $1000 for the whole thing, including the price of the truck itself ($500).

can you do a sloped body lift? annd how would you go about that im pretty interested because i dont really need a body lift except for the front.

Thats a little over 4" of lift with 35s. You'll have to take a sledge hammer to the firewall where the split seam is unless you want to cut up your tires when you turn and flex. The fenders rub yeah, but its the body of the vehicle that hurts more than the fenders. In my case at least.
