There was actually a member on here from australia that mounted a winch to the frame, and cut out part of the bumper, and it looked really good. I cant remember his name right now...

Did he have to make the cut in a noticeable spot though?

And the possible issue that Ronin brought up is probably why no one has really done it with the stock bumper...just not enough room.

Why cant you mount it to the frame?

You must mount it to the frame.

If I can get the fitment issues figured out, then I'm going to probably use a piece of 3/8" steel plate and use bolts that go up through the plate and drill holes so they can go through the bottom and top of the frame.

May need to do some frame reinforcement also, I'll have to see if I can figure out where the crumple zones are, if any, and do something about that.

I do not have tow hooks, so my plan was to use the existing holes to mount my steel plate holding the winch.

Those holes might be alright for tow hooks, but I think that with a winch you're going to want a stronger connection. The frame isn't all that thick so for max strength I think it would be best to go through both the bottom and top of the frame....spreads out the stress.

Also the tow hook holes don't seem to be optimally placed for mounting a winch plate...IMO they are too close together and too far forward. Unless you are mounting the winch plate more forward....the winch plate is probably going to have to extend all the way back to the radiator support. In that case, that location is where it really needs to be bolted, otherwise the plate has no support back there. Remember that the winch is going to pull upward on the plate as well as forward.

So my wife and I just bought a new little toy about 2 weeks or so ago. Towed it through the mountains to the desert for a weekend of fun in the explorer and then towed it all the way back home up the mountains into a 25+ mph head wind. That explorer is one strong truck. My only problem on the trip was after some bouncing around on a trip up OLDSMOBILE hill in glamis the transmission cable sliped on the linkage to the tranny so it would get stuck in park once put there. Quick fix though. Here are pics of the new trailer.

Sure can, i just need to power it and i was hoping to use the 19"screen as an aux screen so music can be played up front and game in the back

i hear ya, but really is it necessary to play nes on a 19" tv? The graphics dont look great anymore. I played my snes on a 32" tv once and it looked like crap lol

i might go smaller for more room, but i want good viewing size.and with traditional games no need to worry about ruining something on bumpy roads and those are some if not the most difficult games i've ever played
