4.0L SOHC swap question.

Anyone know of any problems w/ using a 2004 engine in a 2000 sport? I know I will have to swap the intake and exhaust manifolds and wiring harness. I saw a post that mentioned something about the PCV system being different. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jeff.

Welcome to this forum! I've renamed your thread, and moved it into the modified 95-01 section. Are you swapping one SOHC for another one or are you swapping a SOHC engine into a vehicle that had an OHV engine?

I'm swapping SOHC for SOHC. I just stripped the new motor down and the intake off the old. I see the old has a breather in the valley. The new engine doesn't. Can I knock the core plug out to install the breather into the new block?

The 97 SOHC I got in the shop looks like your right. If you remove the plug the breather will fit right in.

Thanks. It looks like a straight up swap other than that. The long blocks look otherwise identical.

SOHC V6 long blocks

I believe that the Ford SOHC V6 long blocks are identical for the Explorer, Mountaineer, Ranger, Mazda, Mustang and even the Land Rover LR3/Discovery 3.
