Brett's 4.0L SOHC Swap

In forum speak that means you have a Ecoboost donor in the garage right now but it’s a secret

I’ve been looking at the duratec 4 bangers for some time now… the Mazda speed aftermarket is pretty big… when fuel pushes 4-5 a gallon or more the little engines are desirable.
The last pushrod was almost 25’years ago now..(Godzilla does not count)

The Ecoboost donors are getting a little cheaper now too… boost is addicting!

Why doesn't the Godzilla count?

Because I can’t have one…. Yet
Too new and too $$$

Let’s see 4.0 ohv and 302 I can get for $200-2000 Godzilla engine with all the trimmings more like 20000

$20k will get you a 610HP Megazilla crate engine:

You can find Godzilla take out engines from damaged vehicles for much less.

You could get a Godzilla out of a F350 Chassis cab truck for $4k. Transmission and controller would set you back another $6k or so.

Exactly

Here’s a little tip

Explorers are better then Rangers ;)
You’re not wrong! This is what replaced the Ranger. Going to be more of a mellow build. No cage for now, stock width, coilover front and leaf sprung rear with 3.0 shocks under the body. Double swing steer and some other parts by cookcraft fabrication.

Sorry to hear the Ranger is getting replaced but that sounds like a sweet build plan!
