The man said manual brakes, and I'm like....I'm out!

Here it is. A/c and power steering sound like the obstacles he points out. Doesn’t mention the oil pan, but that would probably be a concern. It’s still obd1!

That’s me and my truck! It’s gotten a few upgrades since then

Dual master cylinder (one for the front one for the back) manual brakes with a 18” pedal and balance bar. I the time I had different calipers but now it’s got 6 piston calipers in the front 4 piston in the back, Works better than boosted brakes!

Camburg been doing this for years they have racing classes when 4.0 is the max displacement allowed… a sohc with a carb (or efi) and a 3 speed manual valve body c4…. What a monster in the desert

I saw a few of the carburated 4.0s while I was doing race photography for FST. Very cool!

Yeah sounds a bit different then the stock setup on a Samurai with 33's. 😅

From the wayback machine...

@410Fortune did you figure out what kind of engine it is?

Love
Not easy from those pics
If that’s a sohc then that welded intake the distributor mount and where did the valve covers come from?
Almost looks like the intake runners x8? Hard to see
I do see triple shocks double straps and plate construction wowee
old McGrath truck i decipher

Only 6 runners and distributor is in a weird location for Ford. If I recall someone told me it was a V8 modified to be a v6. I can't find any details.

This was one of the Ford Rough Riders Explorers.

3.8l? No the dist would be straight up like a 302
Maybe they have to use adapters for dist to mesh into sohc
I see 6 plug wires

I would love to carb a 2000 ohv 4.0

It wasn’t a sohc as this truck was racing with that setup in the early 90s
Here’s an overview of the legend. In some text I ready he said they were running a v6 that nascar was also using at the time( 91-92)

What a bargain!! Seriously looks like money well spent

Sweet! I saw your terraCrew video with the guy that talks too much. Rad truck!
Thanks man!
So I kind of lied to you, I just sold the truck last weekend. After 8 almost 9 years of owning and building it. It was a good run but I’ve got 2 kids now. Purchased a 94 expo as a new off-road project for the family. I keep telling myself I won’t go crazy with it but then that engine just got posted for not a terrible price and my mind is running.
****. Lol

If I had a spare $14k that would have to go in the Pumpkin. :burnout:

Here’s a little tip

Explorers are better then Rangers ;)

You could do a 2.3 Ecoboost swap cheaper. 😉 The thought has crossed my mind.
