While I know this is a simple task, I have to remember there are some who don't even like go as far as replacing the serpentine belt let alone change out the alternator. In this video I show you just how easy it is with a few tips. This applies to many if not all Ford models that have a 4.6l or 5.4l modular engine in them. Hope this helps.

Looks awfully familiar! I had my alternator die on me in a timmy's drivethru last year - pushed it out with the help of another customer (guess he really wanted his coffee) and thank goodness I had a voltmeter and socket set with me (had just finished checking and replacing a couple of COP's the week before). Ended up changing the alternator in the parking lot, even though I had nothing to reach the belt tensioner.

One very important thing Ford did with these alternators is they made the two lower mounts c-channel instead of fully drilled holes. I was able to put the alternator in place with the pulley facing the ground, slipped the belt up onto the pulley, and then rotated the alt back into position on the bolts I had left installed. Immediately put in a top bolt to hold it (I didn't want the belt tension to snap the alt out of my hands) and finished the install. THANKS FORD! It's not every car where you can install an accessory without using a tensioner tool to remove and install the belt. Can only imagine how many others have been helped by this.

Man I love Tim Hortons, I go to everyone I see when I am up that way! I would push you outta the way for my coffee too! lol
Yes Ford made it nice and easy to change it out in a pinch.

Guy who helped me hand-push the truck out had a late 90's Dodge Ram 1500. Maybe he thought he would pay it forward? lol
