hmmm so izwack, you gonna come help me put together my 4 link? :D
Yeah wait a few years when I move out there, then we can have a 4-link building party. :D

well we ordered some superlift springs. they'll work as long as they work. its the easiest for right now and we don't have to much time before t/h. maybe the s/l springs will last until izwack can come and help build a 4 link :D

And how long were the current springs on the truck???;)

about a year.

but they had flat spots on them when we put them on, and they're really old. they came with the superlift kit back when they the old style drop brackets

same here

I remember hearing you can get deavers for an explorer through camburg for $550. I might have read that in white96x's thread, but dont quote me on it. Also, deaver lists 2.5" lift springs for explorers on their website (oddly, from years 83-05:confused:), but when you click for a price list of ford products, there is no explorer spring listed.

While we're on this topic, would you say the superlift springs give more flex than stock springs with an AAL? Just curious.

Deaver does make an off the shelf pack, part # G50E, which is the 2-3 inch lift one. But when you need to clear 33's or 35's i really dont think thats enough lift. Ryan (White96x) has a custom pack from deaver, which is the pack i want. Its a 14 leaf race pack i believe, which is now 750$ from deaver.

Id say that the superlift springs would give more flex and a far better ride than the stock springs with an AAL. I have that setup and i hate it both on and offroad.

we had stock springs and add a leaf about a year ago when the navajo was little. it rode fine on and off road. alot better than stock, or maybe it was the james duff shocks that helped out alot, im not sure. but it flexed ok with aal. but that was with the 2 dorr springs, not 4 door. so there may be a difference with that. superlift springs are just "eh". not the greatest flex in the world but they tuck up nice and ride pretty good. i could only get maybe 10-12" of straight up ad down travel with them.

like four leafs, haha not alot

nope, look at my pictures on the first page. 4 leafs

got it together today. just a simple replace of the same springs, but brand new. gave me about another 2 inches of drop travel and rasied the back end up a bit. i assume the springs will settle in and sag down maybe an inch.

old springs and new springs

i could probably bend out the clips on the spring for more drop like maniak said, but im at the end of my shocks right now. i plan on doing that and installing longer shackles after truckhaven, but i'll have to reareange my shocks more like the way dannyboy has them

i guess we'll never know what happens when you put an add-a-leaf in 4" lift springs
