I know that it was mentioned on this site but no one followed through. I also read a Post on the Ranger web site that said that it can be done but no examples. My question is: Has anyone put Dana 44 knuckles on a Dana 35 or know of someone that has done it? This seems like an ideal setup for our X's--a low profile housing with heavy duty outers.

It must be an an "Old Wives Tale" or everyones doing it and keeping it a secret--Yeh, conspiricy theory

I don't think anyone has tried it at all yet. I will after I do my V8 swap (i'll be putting in a Ford 9" in the rear as well). :smoke:

What was posted on here was swapping D44 spindles, not knuckles. Swapping on Ford D44 knuckles would make your stering lower which is bad. Do a search for A post called My brilliant idea! I wrote it. All of the pertinent details are in there.

There we go - spindles. Quesiton about the hubs though - would standard hubs (i'll be converting to warn or milemarker manual hubs) for the D35 TTB work? I'm not entirely sure exactly what all changes with the new spindles. Would the steering need to be fabbed up different? :smoke:

You guys really need to learn to use this: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/search.php?s=

Here is the link to the original thread. I don't have the time or the money right now to do this swap. If one of you want to do it I will help you out with the details. If you want me to help I will but if you want me to do it before you do then you will be watng a long time. Someone will have to be first and be willing to have a little downtime while gettting all the details sorted out.

Knuckles and all

The post I read on the other site said that everything including the knuckle will mount on the 35. I know that the U-joints between the two axles are the same (297) and the steering balljoints on the 44 mount under the arm not above the arm like on the 35. It sure would be nice to have the larger brakes and hub from the 44.
Yes, I did read the old post while it was still current and never heard of it being attemped or completed. Has anyone got an idea of how much a late model 44 cost? (I know it's realative to where your at but just a "Ball Park" figure, guess, etc):smoke:

I asked a few questions in that thread and still haven't gotten an answer. I guess I need to have the passenger-side shaft made, since I'll be running a widened TTB. :smoke:
