So, I just picked up a 2000 XLT explorer 5.0 AWD with only 94K miles.
At first I didnt notice anything but then I realized the RPMs were kind of high when shifting into 3rd.
Well, turns out, its not shifting into 3rd. Rather it was in second gear and not shifting thus the high RPMs.
Weird thing is, it will shift into overdrive (4th) if you let off the gas in second or dont aggressively accelerate so its possible to not notice the issue at a glance.
It goes like this : 1-2 - hangs here - then 4th.
I am praying this is something relatively simple, I bought this truck to replace my '98 which has a very tired engine.
Sound like a 2-3 accumulator spring issue? Kind of worried...
