Hey folks,
I've been an occasional lurker for a long time and my first post is probably a basic one for many.
Anyway, after driving in 4WD for 20 miles or so, the 4WD and 4WD LOW lights blink six times then go out for two minutes (then repeat). I've searched around a bit online and it seems as though the trouble may be the transfer case actuator. Is this your diagnosis? Is this a pretty easy part swap? What should I expect to pay for a new part?
TIA,
Matt

Yeah, I believe so. Hmmmm, do you seem to think this is the problem? Or could it be that driving 50-55 mph for 20 miles or so is too much for the 4WD?
Thx,
Matt

No to both questions.

The shift motor is not used for 4high or 4auto in the 2nd gens. (Save for the late model Sports). The motor is not the issue.

The system is seeing a problem with the system. The most common cause is an error coming from one of the output shaft speed sensors, but without being able to read the GEM DTCs, it's a guessing game at best. Driving at any speed in 4auto for any distance should not be an issue.

Interesting!
On the rear side of the transfer case is a sensor (I don't know which it is) that seems to be the source of a leak of fluid from the case. What is the name of this sensor? Perhaps R&R'ing this sensor would cure both the leak and the blinking lights that occur when I drive "long" distance in 4WD.
Thoughts?
TIA,
Matt
