Ok, my 4wd auto is now 4wd hi it seems. I did nothing to make it that way either. I can feel the front end locked in constantly instead of when needed like it is supposed to in 4wd auto. Could it be that the speed sensors are bad? I can be driving and flip the switch to 4wd auto and nothing happens till I come to a complete stop. Then the 4wd light comes on and when I start moving, I can feel the front end locked in constantly. I can flip the switch back to 2hi and the front end kicks out of 4wd while moving.
I like the fact that I have 4hi now instead of auto, but what problems if any can this cause? Where should I look to diagnose the problem.
Also I am replacing the transfer case shift motor tonight because it would not shift into 4wd low. I took the motor off and was going to clean it, but when I took it apart, it literally fell to pieces in my hand. The magnets inside the motor where in pieces. That explains why it wouldn't shift huh. My question is: There are no markings on the TC that tell me where is the shifting points. How do I tell what point is Low, neutral, and Hi when I go to put the new motor on?
Right now it's in neutral. I can tell because the truck roles back and forth while in park.
Thanks,
Jon
