4WD High Light Stuck on

I have a 2002 Explorer. The other day the 4wd high light started flashing only in the mornings. Then it quit now a week later the light is stuck on and will not go off. The system is not in 4wd and it will not ingage into 4wd. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be. Thanks

Something is wrong with your 4wd system, I'm not sure if auto zone scans will tell the code but there is something that isn't right.

There have been problems popping up with the 4x4 controller on the 3rd Gen Explorers. It is located behind the glove box.
