Left wheel goes forward in 4wd fine but does not go in reverse. I spent 400 bucks to replace the auto hub, but I guess that was not the problem. Any help would be great, thanks!

is the right wheel spinning instead?

You do know that going in reverse is what unlocks the hubs, right? It might also be what Creager mentioned, the fact you have an open diff.

I live in the mountains, so this car is consistently driven on snow. Yes the right wheel is spinning, but the left one just makes a noise like the left shaft is spinning but not engaging the wheel. This is why I thought it was the hub gone bad. Also when I disengage the 4WD, but before reversing, the left front end makes nasty noise. Spinning rubbing noise. Since the hub end of the left shaft looked okay, and it has a new hub, I am thinking the front differential may be bad? My haynes manual does not seem to cover the front differential at all.

mine does that its open diff there gay but thats the way its supose to work the wheel that the axle can spin the easyist is the one it will power. now as for that noice the auto hubs make noice but im not sure if there supose to make that noice, as for reverse my auto hubs just made grinding noice

if u want both front wheels to spinn get a locker thats what im going to do

well actually it gives equal tourqe to each wheel so if one spins theres 0 torque against it so the other does nothing

I have had this car for a long time and this is a new problem, the wheel certainly turned before. My driveway is snow, so I think I would be aware if the power was being sent to only one wheel!

so its not doing it all the time, but only in reverse
try jacking up the front and turning the left wheel the right one should if its not broken turn the opposite direction, correct me if im wrong guys

can you describe the noices is it like a grinding
