4wd still not working. On my 95 Explorer XLT. After disconnecting the battery and clearing any codes the 4wd and 4wd low lights start blinking 6 times almost immediately after turning on the ignition before I even start the truck or moved the 4wd selector.
I recently fixed a vacuum leak and now the C.A.D. does engage the front wheels and the transfer case works using the Brown wire mod. (I have manual 4x4 hi if needed)
I just took apart the shift motor and verified the position sensor is working. (not lost) So by process of elimination only two possibilities remain?
1 one of the two Hall effect speed sensors is not working.
2 The Gem itself is not functioning.
Would a malfunctioning Hall sensor disable the 4wd before the truck was moved or started or would it wait till the gem got conflicting data from the Hall/ABS sensors? (When the truck was moving)
And if the Gem itself is bad would the lights blink? Is not the gem responsible for blinking the lights indicating a general fault code?
