Does anyone know of a good 4WD troubleshooting thread for a 98 SOHC XLT 4WD? I am interested in the electrical part mostly. I have an 98 SOHC and the 4WD does not engage strongly. Sometimes it makes a loud vibrating sound (wheel hop) up front when the rear tires slip like it is trying to engage the fronts.
Some of the wires underneath are frayed, could this be the cause? What is the best way to test the wheel sensors, GEM module, relays, etc.
Does a 98 SOHC have any OBD2 diagnostics built in?
