Recently aquired a 1995 4wd Explorer with a 4R55E transmission. I'm looking for replacement transmissions at the moment. What modifications (if any) need to be done to use a 2wd 4R55E for the 4wd application? I don't mind changing out tailshaft housings if necessary, but I'm not sure if there are other differences or not. Thanks in advance for your help.

Output shaft and pan/filter. No need to swap the pan and filter though

I'm confused on the filter/pan part - are you recommending an oil and filter change on the replacement transmission? I wouldn't think there would be any differences in the pan, unless the 4wd version had a little different pan to increase oil capacity.

The 4wd has deeper sump and a deeper reaching filter
