I have a 94 Ranger and my push button works to go into four wheel drive, but not to go into low range. When I push the button nothing happens...no light or sound. I have seen the site that explains how to rebuild the motor, but it seems to work perfectly in 4H and 2wheel drive. Will this fix work?

Is there a way to convert the push button T-case into a manual? I know that the motor is on the back side of the T-case, when the manual shift lever is on the front. Has anyone done it? I want it to be reliable!!

did you try putting it on neutral, then clicked on LOW RANGE? make sure 4HI is engaged too.

It is already in 4H when I try to put it low range, and yes it is in neutral. The 4H works fine, but it just doesn't go into 4L.

I have seen this subject on the board in the past, but it is usually an issue of not going into 4H, or getting stuck inbetween 4H and 2H. This is usually solved by reconditioning the motor on the T-case, but I don't know if this applies in my case. Any Input would be appreciated!

My Explorer had the same problem with the 4 low. It ended up being one of my automatic hubs were broken. It went into 4 high, but not the low. After breaking two hubs, I went with the Warn manuals. That was my problem with my 4 low.

Jason,

How would I determine if one of my Hubs is broken? I have done some mild fourwheeling recently, and I have noticed a clicking noise, maybee twice, from the front. I thought it was because I was turning too sharp though.

When you pushed the button to put the T-case in 4L did you hear any noise at all, or does the light come on? Mine doesn't do anything. It is as if I haven't even pushed the button.

Rod,
I took my explorer into the dealership to get it looked at. This was 3 years ago before I started doing my own work on it. I could get it in 4 high. The instructions says to put it in neutral or reverse and push the 4 low for it to engage. Mine would make a quiet click and it would shut off the 4 high light and never engage in 4 low at all.
