I've got an Eddie Bauer 4x4 Auto with the 4.0L engine. I had it laid up for a while, but have put it back on the road again. It's got around 198,000 miles on it and the Tranny was rebuilt at around 130,000 miles.
I tried to engage the 4x4 ckt and it seems to work going into 4x4 high, but I found it had a blown 20A fuse in the 4x4 ckt. I'm assuming this is part of the Low ckt, though I haven't been able to get a good reading on that, yet. I replaced the fuse and tried to go into 4x4 Low again, but after hearing several clicks of a relay(?) under the tunnel section, it seemed to quit again. I later discovered that the fuse blew again.
When the tranny was rebuilt, the tech said he replaced a harness that ran over the tranny where the A/C evap drain ran because the design always caused the harness to get saturated and cause trouble. While I do most of my own work, the tranny wasn't one of the jobs, so I don't have any idea what might have happened up in there since I ran the additional 60-70,000 miles.
I have a shop manual CD, but because mine is an 'early' '02 (really a late Aug
'01) model year, nothing seems to line up too well. The '01 manual doesn't describe the fuses distribution panels right, either, just like to '02 manual doesn't do it. So, I work in the dark a bit with only the owner's manual giving anywhere near, but very lacking, info about my model.
Any ideas where to start on this? I'd love to get the 4x4 working fully again.
Thanks,
ScubaDave
