1994 XLT 4x4
Hello everyone,

I just subscribed today to this forum which I think provides great information for owners of Ford Explorers.

I have a 1994 XLT with 5 speed manual transmission, which I purchased new and has over 140k. The only modification I have done is switch the automatics hubs to manual hubs, which I think has been a great improvement.

The problem I'm having is the motor that engages the different options for 4x4 high or low. At first I thought that the problem may have been the motor and the stopper as described in some of the posting here by "Rebuilding the Motor by drbob", but after following the testing and disassembling procedures and reinstalling the motor everything worked just fine. When we had a wet snow storm and I tried to switched to 4x4 nothing happened. This has been the problem all along, cold or wet weather makes the system fail. Just to be sure that there is nothing wrong with the motor, I removed it from the car today and tested it again in my bench by applying power to pins 3 and 2. The motor worked just fine.

Does anybody have any experiences with this problem and how was it solved?

This is driving me insane, and I really would appreciate any information, tips or hints that you may have.

Thanks in advance

Jsalazar
