k i know there are already post about both of these subject but i just wanted to let everyone know my problems just in case i can try something else. k first off my aunt and uncle gave me the x. they didnt need it anymore and i needed a vehicle. it needs work but it is none the less better than nothing. my problems are the gas gauge dont work. my uncle said that when they was using the truck the gauge would work every once and awhile. but it sat for about 3 months before i got it and it has yet to work for me any ideas?

also the 4x4 dont work. i have electronic 4x4 with auto hubs. neither the lights on the switch or on the dash work i have tested the computer relay in the back several times and it flashed 4 times each time. i plugged everything in. the switch in the dash and the left plugs on the relay and the red light stayed lit for a little bit. is that a problem or is it suppose to do that.

my next step that i know of according to everything i have read is to take off the tc motor and rebuild it if i need to try something else please let me know thanks

for the fuel, it could be as simple as a level sending unit, for the 4x4 have you checked the switch and everything down to the transfer case?

with the switch in the dash plugged in and everything else is plugged in i her a clickin noise when you press the 4x4 button but nothing else happens

i couldnt diagnose it without looking at the truck, it might be best to take it to your local friendly technician and have them take a look at it unless someone else on here could help you out.

i let my dad and uncle both look at the truck and everything i have fount on here and they both think it could be the motor on the tc. since the relay is getting the sugnal from the switch the motor on the tc is the only thing left to check. i just wanted to post and see what i could come up with

it may very well be but if not have a trained tech take a peek at it and they might be able to help you out a bit more.

hope it helps

I had the same problem with the 4x4 and it was the shift motor out of alignment. Theres a good write up on this site with pics that really helped me.

Hey, your fuel guage issue might be a bad ground. Check that all your connections at the fuel tank are still good.

The 4x4 is most likely the tc motor. If you rebuild it, which its not that hard it took me a half an hour, there is a small bolt that used to have a plastic bushing on it. I put a plastic washer on it to replace it, but most people used rubber o-rings. Slap it all back together, and it should work. Theres an awesome write-up on here ill find it. If its not the tc motor, its the hubs. Try and clean them out with carb-cleaner or gasoline, and lubricate them with atf, and dont pack them with grease.

got my 4x4 working all it took was a lil o ring gasket in the tc motor. but when im in 4x4 the front end shakes a lil and when i turn it is horrible in bucks and all kinda mess any ideas?
