Hello everyone

I HAVE A 2002 EXPLORER, MY 4X4 WILL NOT KICK IN .. AT FIRST I COULD PULL
THE FUSES UNDER TO HOOD AND PUT THEM BACK AND IT WOULD KICK IN AN DO FINE UNTIL I SHUT IT OFF . IT WOULD NOT KICK BACK IN UNTIL THE FUSES WERE PULLED AND REPLACED AGAIN.. BUT NOW IT WILL NOT KICK IN AT ALL.. I JACKED IT UP AND HAD MY WIFE WORK THE SWITCHES WHILE I TAPED ON THE TRANSFER MOTOR . THOUGHT IT MAY BE STUCK.. IS THERE ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE MOTOR THAT COULD CAUSE IT??? HELP!!!!!!!!!1

The '02's don't have "4x4" hubs, the axleshafts are permanantly bolted to the wheel hubs.

To the original question, it's most likely the motor. If you don't cycle it on a semi regular basis the motor can go bad (brushes get corroded). Check out the sticky at the top of the transmission and transfer case forum.

BTW, welcome to the show! I'm also moving this to the transfer case forum.

If The Motor Is Bad And It Will Not Kick In Will The 4x4 Light Stay Off. Dose It Have A Switch In The Motor To Turn The Lights Off And On?

Thanks Guys
You Guys Are All Great And Quick To Respond.. The Pix Are A Great Help. I See The Switch In The Motor Case That Tells Me About The Indicator Light Issue.
Thanks To All.
