4x4 question

good mornin all. Im a new member and I want to think all the helpful folks on here. My question is my 02 xlt is having those weird problems with 4x4 like all have with this truck is it possible to disconnect the 4x4 for good? I live in Florida I have no need for it anyway. I played with it yesterday and was barely able to get it back to 2wd again scared me. It's a good runner in good shape that's all I care about thanks in advanced....

there is something called a Brown Wire Mod or BWM, people effectively disable the Auto 4wd part. Might be able to help you out.
Or what happens if you disconnect the 4wd module, its behind the glove-box. Later '03 or '04 the module is deleted and is part of the PCM. .

thanks jrford called dealer and they me I could have front drive shaft removed and then unplug the mod. I might be doing that myself
don't know how hard it is to do but might try. Only thing the lights will come on in dash but I guess a piece of tape will fix that lol
