This is on a 2002 Ranger XLT Off Road. It will not go into 4 wheel drive until the cab is warm. You do not have to drive the truck to make it work you just have to let it sit and warm up inside the cab then it goes in.

Any thoughts. I searched but did not see a lot of info.

Thanks

It is without a doubt your 4X4 control module. I have an 02 and had the exact same problem. Did you recently have total battery loss or replace a battery? After my battery died and I had to recharge it... I had the same problem as you. Go to directfordparts.com and email them with your Make, Model, and VIN and they will set you up with the right part. Its called the 4X4 control module. Then to replace it, you Pull the plastic cover off the side kick panel on the passenger side of the truck and take the 2 screws out of the black box labeled "4X4cm". Very easy, took me MAYBE 10 minutes. I hope this helps... any other questions let me know.

Thanks for the tip! I'll do just that.
My friend, bud4ya, posted this for me & I just joined myself.
I never used a forum before. Need to get used to it.
My battery is weak & needs to be replaced. (It's still the original battery!)
Thanks again for the help and have a safe and Happy New Year!!!
