So,
Would any of you socal guys be interested in building an explorer for the BITD
(best in the desert) Racing association? i think with the group of guys we have in socal, we could build a pretty darn good truck.

Someone needs the big bucks though... Besides the race truck you need a support team to set up pits ahead of the race truck etc...

Rick, all you need for support is a vehicle, 88 dodge cargo van(which i own) a few guys willing to stay up and party all night, and parts. at all the score events, you can use the bf goodrich pits if you use bfg tires. i'm not saying we have to build a million dollar trophy truck, i'm just saying let's get 5 or 6 guys willing to fork out like 2500 bucks, put a cage in an explorer, and go take turns driving it. the exposure for the website will be fantastic, and it will be sooo much damn fun! come on guys, don't make me do this alone!

What class are you planning to run in? need a partner?

i was planning to just build the truck for my own purposes and then run it in safari prerunner (BITD). it's a catch all class, just gotta have an up to par cage.....

I am hopeing to race MDR either in class 1450 or 1400 it depends. But I also want to run in SCORE, MORE, BITD basiclly any type of desert race. I just dont know what class I will be able to race in for those other three series.

But I dont know when I will be racing cause I want to build this Explorer right the first time. And then do a lot of testing. But once I start building, testing and racing my Explorer I could always use help or a partner seeing that I am building this Explorer all by myself.

this is funny, I've saw my first trophy truck in person in my buddy's shop and I got on youtube and was hooked. They also have a jeepspeed race truck. I was wondering if there was a class I could run my blue truck in the Parker 425, etc. I'm in San Diego a bunch cause my girl lives here and have been glued to youtube and the net curious about racing.

When were you thinking of working on the truck? Do you have a sponsor deal set up already? Do you have a donor truck?

I have a donor truck(s) and all the facilities necessary, and i was planning to run this season, but got stuck in iraq a little longer than i thought, so i scrapped this year. i'm gonna go racing on my own either way, but i thought it would be cool to involve everybody from the site. if i don't get any takers, when i finally am ready to go, i'll post a thread for pit crew volunteers.

I wouldn't be able to help with building, but I may be able to do a run out in the area and "visit family" and help out on the pit crew, depending on when and for how long it would be.

Well, i plan on running quite a few races in different sanctioning bodies, S.C.O.R.E., BITD, MORE, etc. i'll put the schedule up in this thread....

Oh I understand you are really serious about this so am I. The only thing is I work alot and have to save alot of money for some of these parts. So I dont get to work on this Explorer as much as you would think. It most likely wont be finished until I hope the end of next summer or sooner.

But I will be more then happy to help you build your race truck and you can help me when the time comes. Then we could run some what of a two truck team with the same pit crews at the races.

Oh and I do know alot of people and companies that can help us out with parts and things when you start building. And maybe a few that might sponsor a little. Just hit me up.
