I have been chattin with some of these mustang guys and I see that there is this company that makes 5.0 swap headers for them (long and short tube). Shouldn't these work for us explorer owners then insread of waiting for FMS to make them again or gettin custom ones.

Here is the link http://www.kaufmannproducts.com/rangersw.htm

Sorry if this as already been talked about.

how much hp/torque is gained, anyone know?

nope those wont fit

Spacing is too tight; apparently they hit the frame rail. The custom bend for the X is very specific.

steering shaft is WAY close to the block to have anythign like that fit.

Yeah I know the shaft is really close. I just measured my friends ranger 5.0 and his shaft is the same so I figured it would work fine cuz they are made for the 5.0 conversion in the ranger.

Have you ever looked at a drivers side header on the 5.0 X? Its more compacted and twisted than a freaking pretzel.

Like I said before I measured his truck and mine and it is similar, but if you all say it will not work I will take your answers. I was just wonderin if anyone has tried them.

the flanges are way off also. Go look at yours and look at his.

Take a look at the engine mounts and plates. Also check out my picture pages. I have tried just about every stock 5.0L header design. Nothing out there.

The explorer has GT-40p heads, the angle of the spark plugs dictate using a different header than stangs. Waiting impatiently for Ford Racing to release them, mine is in a friends garage with no headers on it. We thought about welding the cracks but decided to wait on the headers.

You say the explorer has gt 40 heads and these headers are made for explorer engine swaps into rangers? Anyway just wonderin if it would help anyone out but I guess it does not work.

Not sure about 1st gen swaps, but on second gen V8s, those headers will not fit. They will hit the motor mounts, frame, and steeringshaft. Possibly more.

If Kaufman makes headers for a 5.0 Ranger swap maybe they would be interested in designing some headers for us 5.0 X guys. I have a 347 that I will be putting in soon and I need a set of headers bad. I don't want the FMS headers since the AFR 205's have a raised exhaust port.

I think I will call Kaufman tomorrow and see if they are interested.

I have the 5.0 headers from FRPP on the wife's 97 Mounty; no problems with them so far!

b-rine what is the part number of them?

The FRPP headers were discontinued ~1.5 years ago, but I have heard they may be bringing back to market. Sadly, I believe they are still in the FRPP catalog. I know they were in the 2003 catalog, though not available.
