I put a 5.5" Superlift kit on about 6 months ago. I have had problems with the front springs, alignment, front axle rubbing on the A-arms, spring perches would rock so far (before I welded them) they would pull the drive shaft apart, brake lines too short, and on and on and on. Has anyone else had these problem? Can anyone give me some solutions? I have ordered new springs, new brake lines, and considering lengthening the drive shaft to avoid anymore problems. I would really appreciate any advice.

Wow, and I was mad about ny stuff.

Brett,

Needs some details about what you need help with. Also, you might try listing a single question to a subject. Some people may have an answer to part of the question, but hold back if they are overwhelmed.

Springs, did they collapse? See my post about that in this section.

Alignment, A lot of this is tied to the springs. Also may have to do with other parts having problems. Details though, does it pull, is the camber way out, Not enough caster?

Spring Perches. This has me concerned. Sounds like the stud was loose that holds the spring perch to the I-beam. Hopefully your weld solved that. But seperating the drive shaft? Your getting some travel in your front end. Not a bad thing if somewhat controlled. You may need a custome driveshaft now. My 5.5" lift kit has not giving me any problems with the drive shafts. I'm still leaving the swaybars hooked up though. And the shocks limit my travel to a safe distance. You need to check that stuff. RTI ramp time to see what is binding and what is traveling to far.

Brake Lines. I got new extended ones when I did my lift.

This sounds like the classic case of everything sucks till you get it right. Once you fix all these things you'll love your set-up.

Good Luck

Now on this same subject, I've heard it takes a ton to get these 5.5in Superlifts right...Not that I've got anything against them, I just hear alot of people complaining on something....I will admist i went at buying my lift the wrong way...Bought some lift, then more later....shoulda bought it all at once...I don't see alot of people buying Skyjacker(aka SkyHacer) even though all the work I did on it was expected, cutting rusted bolt ect....I'm just kinda curious why no one buy skyjacker for their explorers...I know they're kinda high priced, But there is little I can complain about mine...thanks for the time....Pete

Hey just I was wondering, are the skyjacker axle pivot brakets stamped steel like the superlift ones or are they seperate pieces of steel welded together like the james duff ones. To me the superlift one seem flimsey and I hear that the one for the passanger side always bends. Rob

Axle pivot brackets? I'm assuming you mean the axle drop brackets? They are fully welded pieces of steel with maybe 1 1/2-2 in tube inside for added strenght...these tubes dont interfere with travel..Hope this helped ya....Pete
