Ok...I'm looking to get 2 12's and a nice size amp. I listen to mostly rap so I want it to bump and hit pretty hard...I also need a HU so I have to figure about 170 for that. Is there any brands out there that I could get 2 subs/box/wiring/amp for around 430$? Or am I just plain insane? And if the second of the 2 is the answer...What's the least I can spend and get the best quality? I kno I kno you get what you pay for...but i'm tight on cash and a system is something I've wanted since I was a kid. No need to figure in installation because i've helped friends b4 just never had a system of my own :monkey:

Hard to do with the budget. You can get an MTX amp, subs, box set at Circuit City for pretty cheap, but to tell you the truth it is going to be really hard to get "2 12's and a nice size amp." If I were too do it I would go with 2 12" alpine type E subs and an MTX monoblock that pushes around 400-500 watts rms at 2 ohms, a very loud good SQ system for cheap. You would be blown away, but you would also be paying something around $500 not including your HU or wiring.

you can always buy up peoples old/unused stuff. There are alot of good deals out there if you are patient. I would suggest buying a good HU as a base and then see what you can do after that.

I have 2 10" subs by elemental designs i could sell you. 4-ohm DVC's. I bought them used and have never used them as i went a different direction. From what i heard they won't disappoint though. They are just sitting in my basement on the east side (suburbs) of cleveland if you ever make it over that way. Shoot me a PM if you'd be interested.

i jsut saw a used 12" alpine d12 sub on ebay for $45

You could pick up some Rockford stuff. I have a amp and subs from them and it hit's hard. Build your own box to save $$$ if you can.

I have had great luck with sony. I have had sony everything. Love my headunit just got rid of sony 12's and 800 watt amp. I have kicker components and love thsoe also. I would say sony HU and maybe sony amp with some kicker 10's or 12's

I work at Circuit City, and that MTX package for $250 (amp/2-12s/box) is nice, but you get what you pay for. It hits, but SQ isn't found in it at all. The amp is totally underpowering the subs bigtime.

Save up more money.

I'v seen way too many problems with the sony amps, definitely stay away from them. Just within the past year I've started to see less Sony HUs with problems so they might be ok to go with, but their amps, subs and speaks always tend to come back with problems.

Well I mean I have toasted 1 HU but I got a brand new one for free and I never had any probs. with subs or amps. Compare the subs to my American pro comps. or something like that and they didn't stand a chance but bang for the buck they are pretty good.

Well i had a HU JVC...in my old car but it my sister payed most of it so i can't take it out so I kno to get HU first...I made the mistake of buyign speakers instead of amp and subs...My friend has 2 12" xplods and a 800w Alipine mono amp that he got for 200$ brand new and it hits...I kinda like the odd shape of the xplods 2 but u guys are saying ****? I've heard that around forums...but now that i've heard them in person i don't think there taht bad

1200 watt amp Mcane?

What brand and is that max or RMS?

Get two Kenwood Excelon 12" DVC and a Excelon X-401 amp off ebay. The subs will be new, but the amp will likely be used. I got lucky and found one new, and I only paid about $400 for the amp and the subs and it pounds.

Goto www.crutchfield.com If you get a amp, subs & and a HU you get discounts. I configured a system for you there that had everything you needed for $556.

TJM623
Pyramid 4 channel bridged to two cannels
1200watts max but RMS its like around 450-500 a channel
so bout a 1000 watts RMS on two audiobahn 12" sounds good

jason can u link me the configuration pls?

Sorry to let you know, but Pyramid amps get no where near as loud as they are rated. I believe they are made by the same company that makes Legacy and the like, not good amps at all, very decieving ratings to get people to buy them. Not trying to rail on you, just the way it is.
