Heat is the beast in trannys and I would like to monitor my transmission temperature as I plan to start towing with my 98. Is there a temperature sensor I can tap off of? Does anybody have a recommendation for monitoring the health or abuse of my transmission?

Use the search feature... many people have done this. Most people put in a sensor on the lines going to or from the tranny cooler. Mountaneergreen has one he put drirectly into his pan.

You may also want to add a exernal aux tranny filter, and tranny cooler.

Also grab a class 3 reciever hitch if you don't already have one.

There is already an internal sensor which is used by the PCM. The reading could be obtained by a scan tool. Use a separate sensor which is threaded into the pan with a gauge located inside of the vehicle for your project.

Skip the tranny, fix the engine. Good luck,
