Anyone know the torque spec on the pan bolts and/or the tightening sequence? This is all I have left to do!!!

I found it...98-115 inch pounds.

Auto gearbox pan bolt torques are you sure

I have a 98 5door Explorer 4L I dropped the auto gearbox pan with little torque on the bolts to undo them. The Haynes manual gives the torque for these bolts as approx 100lbs well I got to about 50lbs and the gasket started to squeeze out and I figured small bolts and 100lbs is only going to end one way. Does anyone know the Ford official torques for these bolts as I think Haynes is wrong.

Thanks

James

James, the torque spec for the trans pan bolts is
108-132 INCH lbs.

That translates to about 9-11 FOOT lbs.

You're lucky something didn't break. I'd remove the
pan and check it for warpage, then torque a new
gasket to about 10 FOOT LBS, assuming you don't
have an inch-lb torque wrench.....
