Go on Ebay and buy a ford service DVD that covers your year (I have a 96-02) (there are CDs too, but DVD has more). I have mine over 15 years and it saved me fortunes. You will know more than the guy at Ford. Some also have TSBs too. You may be able to download but even if it is $50 I can assure you it is worth every penny.

Alright, to make sure I'm heading in the right direction, after some consideration and whatnot, I have pretty well determined that this transmission has never had anything done to it outside of servicing, I was told by a friend who would know, in addition to the forums, because more opinions never hurt IMO, that the best idea is to take the VIN to the Ford dealer, and get all the TSBs relating to the transmission, that sound like a reasonable idea?

Your answers probably lie in "the diary" quoting the TSB below. First few pages compare the options, 'while you're in there.'

Don, will do. As I was thinking about it, I remembered a TSB that Eneurb was kind enough to post, about this VB, so I found it and am posting it here for reference.

Here it is... TSB 03-22-10...

To bump an old thread, mostly from curiosity, the issue progressed until now I have times where I have no downshift, hard shifts all the time, and it's clunking when you roll to a stop like the TC is actually locking up, opinion? Mostly I'm curious even though I'm going to 5.0 swap this truck anyhow.
