5R55S issue

My girlfriend has a 09 explorer(police) with the 5R55S trans.
No reverse.
Her daughter had been driving it for a while in this condition without informing anyone (a bit frustrated).
Servo pack replacement failed to correct the issue.
Since then, they have been driving it without reverse and finding gravity is their friend.

So... yesterday, the daughter was driving it and lost forward but got reverse back, very interesting.
I am thinking shift cable alinement issue. Thoughts?

well if it's alignment, and you want to check try 3,2,1 forward gears also to prove mis-ailgnment

The shift cable in these is .... interesting ... to be polite.
There are plastic bits that can wear out.
There are teeth near the tranny where you can realign it if it got out of adjustment, but if it is worn trying finding a new cable. Ford cables are scarce but I think there is an aftermarket replacement. Look at Advance Auto.
There is a repair kit for the earlier Explorer/Sport Trac but it is different somehow (I forget). Mine was cobbled together with that when I got it. It did not work right. I rec'd a new cable shortly afterwards.
I think you may be on the right track.
