Hey explorer forum gang. I'm new here and i'm coming to you all with another 5r55s transmission issue. I got this car to fix up with about 130k on the dash with the intent on replacing the transmission and keeping her for a good deal.

However, i went the route of getting a junkyard tranny which was a mistake. When i got home and got it hooked up its making the classic 2-3 gear flare up followed by a loud thud when the it finally changes gear.

I went to the route of thinking it was the servo bores and purchase the replaced servos found to combat this problem. Upon dropping the tranny to replace i discovered this was a Jasper rebuilt tranny and the servos had already been sleeved. We also found the the intermiate bore was broken off right where the shaft meets the main body(umbrella looking piece). So we went with the replacement anyways.

Now i'm still have the same issue although it seems to have settled out just a little. The loud thudd isnt always there but the flare seems consistent. My next step is to swap solenoid packs and see if that helps, Any other ideas? Other than the flare/thuds the transmission shifts perfectly fine.

Welcome to the forum.

Did you readjust the intermediate band after you changed servos?

Is the CEL on? Is the OD Off light flashing?

I would think you would be getting some DTC’s by now.

I did not re adjust the IM band re kit after installing new servos. But did try it before buying servo kit to no affect. No CEL no codes , i do have the wrench but no codes come up when the OBD2 is ran.
