5R55W 6 cyl and 8 cyl the same?

Hi all I'm trying to figure out if the 5R55W is a direct fit into my 4.0 liter 2WD 2002 Explorer from a 4.6 liter 4WD 2002 Explorer donor vehicle? Thanks for the help!

Ive been searching sense I posted and cant seem to find an answer. Is the bell housing etc. the same from a 4.0 to a 4.6?

Can't replace a 2wd with a 4wd without disassembly of both transmissions and changing output shaft.
