Are there any off the shelf so to speak rebuild kits for the mazda 5 speed?

Yes, I rebuilt my Mazda R-1 a few years ago. kits come with all needed bearings and other stuff needed in a rebuild. I went through http://www.txchange.com/ and they provided very good service. They'll even give you tech support if you need it. Remember to request timken bearings - best on the market. Also, with Timken bearings the tech support guy said to use less clearance at a few places than called for in a standard rebuild. he said that the timkens like to run at closer tollerances than other bearings. How difficult is a manual xmission rebuild?
 






Pretty straightforward with a shop press (harbor frieght has one for around 100 bucks). Other than that plan on spending about 50 bucks at a trans shop to pull some of the bearings you won't be able to do.
