6 cyl. aftermarket exhuast HELP!

Hey guys,
I have a 99 ex 4.0l ohv and i put a single pipe, cherry bomb exhaust last summer and its not the sound i want. yes i know its not gonna sound like a 8cyl, But i was wondering if anyone has done exhaust setups on the 6 cyl and if it sounded bad ass. I want to do a dual exhaust that sounds good... I heard a 6cyl chevy blazer drive by and it sounded almost like a 8cyl pickup wud with some flowmasters on it..... any suggestions?

i got dual 40 series flowmasters on my 01 sport and i got the 4.0 sohc engine and it sounds real loud and deep i love how it sounds.

previous owners of my sport had the dual 70 series flows and i didnt like them it was to quiet now with the dual 40 series flows big difference in sound it sounds 10 times meaner and louder and deeper.

i love my dual 40 series flows on my 01 sport.

You should look at the sticky at the top of the page, but I would try a custom Bassani if I had a V6 explorer.

What kind of cherrybomb were you running? Here is my OHV sport running a Cherrybomb Pro.

I have a 40 series flowmaster on my 4L X, i think it's quite as hell unless it's cold out.

I do have all stock cats in place though.

i got all my stock 4 cats on my 01 sport and i got dual 40 series flowmasters and it sounds real loud and deep.

i dunno what kind of 40 series i got but i love the sound.

It was supposed to be a regular 40 series, not the delta flow.

I thought maybe they shipped the wrong one, but after it was installed i figured what the hell.

It's noticable yes, not very loud though. Sounds like a 12 y/o pos with ****ty rotted out stock exhaust comming down the road.

Thanks for all the replies.....Im not sure what kind of cherry bomb it is but it just doesnt sound good enough for me.... What kind of 40 series muffler do you guys suggest?

I had the original 40 on there as well, sounded good, but I don't think it sounded any where near as good as the cherry bomb in that video. IMO you can't go wrong with the CB Pro. Good sound at idle, doesn't get too raspy, doesn't kill you with the drone, and the price is right. My explorer had seen a ton of different exhausts. Stock, dynomax super turbo, flowmaster 40, straight piped, glasspack, magnaflow, and the CB pro. I had a V8 rumble at idle to about 2000 RPM, from there to redline, it was still deep without getting too raspy, and never once sounded like a ricer. I am in no way knocking the FM, but I think there are better sounding mufflers for the money, especially since you will likely see little to know gain in power.
