6f55 drain and fill

My 2018 explorer 3.5 na has the 6f55 trans. I will be doing a drain and fill this weekend. What is the fluid capacity when draining and filling? Manual states that it holds 11.6 quarts but that is a dry fill.

This is the correct answer.

Typically between 4.5 and 5 quarts for a drain/fill so get 6 qts and that should be enough.

I got a bit under 1.5 gallons when I did the drain and fill on my 18 3.7L recently, so I second the recommendation to buy six quarts.

I do mine every 30k and usually get just under 5 qts out

I also do mine at 30,000. Almost 5 quarts. Get 6 you will be good.

I used Valvoline Maxlife ATF with some LubeGard ATF Protectant additive.
