its different then both? If so, do you know how it compares to them as far as stiffness? I am trying to improve the locking im my trac lock.

techie is correct. The F150 spring is a common upgrade in Mustang and Ranger Trac-Lok diffs. While you're in there you can do the other common upgrade - more clutch packs to replace the extra steel rings.

i have heard that if you go with the extra clutches its almost imposable to get the f150 spring in?

Going with more clutches always makes it more difficult to get the S-spring back in.

When I rebuilt mine 2 years ago, the extra clutch plate I used was the best of the plates being replaced and it was the same thickness as the steel plate I eliminated.

Any extra width of the pack of clutch plates came from the new, thicker friction material on the new plates, not exchanging the steel plate for a friction plate.

That's what makes the S-spring harder to put back in.

At least that's the way mine was. ;)

Thats true - different manufacturers will have different disc thickness which will then affect the spring force on the S-spring (and I guess probably the "locker" effect of the differential).
