ok so I'm at my wits end, and hoping to score some general input from around here as I wanted to shoot myself after searching jeep forums. Heres the deal. 87 cherokee 4.0 liter inline 6. You turn the key and there's a rapid clicking from the starter. Tried to "jump" the starter, nothing aside from a spark and the fuel pump priming. take it out, have checkers bench test it, it passes. . There is no voltage drop when the key turns, so i'm assuming the solenoid is toast, but yet it passes off the jeep. all the voltages on the starter are as they should be. Any ideas?
